Abstract

The materials used in the art of scuplture have a logic of creating a spesific form.This logic determines the bounds of form creating possibilities.In this context the place of the traditional material and its usage in the new searches in the modern forms of contemporary sculpture art are studied in the work.In the first part,the traditional materials of the sculpture art are studied and the importance of traditional material in changing forms is emphasized from the Primitive Period to the Industrial Age.In the second part,the reflections of the big change on the scupture art experienced both in society and understanding of art in Industry Age are studied and referring to the prominent artists' sculptures,the usage of traditional material in the new form searches is mentioned.Afterwards,studying the prominent artists' works from 1960's to the present,the rediscovery and the changing nature of the traditional characteristic materials in these works are examined.Finally,considering the concept of heading for the natural,artistic practices are produced using traditional materials.
