Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to examine the validity and reliability of the Preschool Activity Card Sort Scale (PACS), which is used to measure activity participation in early childhood, by making a Turkish cultural adaptation of the scale in children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Parents with 70 children with ASD (study group) and parents with 27 normally developing children (control group) between the ages of 3 and 6 were included in the study. During the adaptation process of the PACS scale to Turkish, the procedure determined by the World Health Organization was applied. The scale was reapplied to all parents with an interval of one week. Construct validity in the validity analyzes of the PACS scale; Internal consistency and test-retest methods were used in reliability analyzes. In the results of the comparison of the groups with known construct validity of the PACS scale, it was found that the control group got higher scores than the study group in all sub-scales of the scale (p<0.01). In the external validity analyzes, statistically significant correlation was found between the COPM and the PACS scale in all sub-domains, except for the household chores sub-domain. The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach Alpha's =0.94) was found to be perfectly reliable. Time invariance ICC coefficients of the scale; self-care (ICC=0.98), social mobility (ICC=0.98), leisure time (low physical requirement) (ICC=0.94), social interaction (ICC=0.94), housework (ICC= 0.95)), education (ICC=97) sub-domains had excellent reliability; A good level of reliability was found for the leisure time (high physical requirement) (ICC=0.85) subdomain. In conclusion, the Turkish version of the PACS scale was found to be a valid and reliable scale for evaluating activity participation in children with ASD.
