Özet
İçöz, Ö., The Validity and Reliability of Auditory Perception Test for Children. Hacettepe University, Graduate School of Health Sciences, PhD Thesis in Audiology and Speech Disorders Program, Ankara, 2022. The objective of the present study was to investigate the validity and reliability of Auditory Perception Test for Children (CIAT), which was created to evaluate auditory perception skills. In accordance with this purpose; 100 cochlear implant users between the ages of 2-15 and 80 individuals with normal hearing were included in the study. The Turkish Early Language Development Test (TEDIL) and audiometric assessment was administered to all of the participants in the first session. In the second session, subtests of the ÇİAT battery suitable for age and developmental level were applied. Internal consistency analysis and test-retest reliability methods were applied to evaluate the reliability of the subtests in the ÇİAT battery. By comparing the auditory perception scores of children with normal hearing and children using CI according to age groups, construct validity with the known group method and the relationship between clinical features and auditory perception skills were examined and predictive validity was examined. In addition, auditory perception performances of children with CI were compared according to their demographic characteristics. In the results of study; the auditory perception scores of the children with CI were compared according to their chronological age groups, it was determined that there were statistically significant differences between the age groups of pairs before 48 months (p<0,05). The auditory perception scores were compared according to CI usage status, Bilateral CI users had higher scores than Unilateral CI users, and this difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). The auditory perception scores were compared according to the age of CI, a statistically significant difference was found between the groups (p<0,05), and this difference was due to the difference between 24-36 and 12-18 months, and between 24-36 months and 36+ months. The auditory perception scores were compared according to the duration of CI use; Statistically significant difference was determined between CI use duration groups in all subtests (p<0,05). This difference arises between 1-11 months and 36+ months and 1-11 months and 24-35 months. In addition, chronological age group, duration of CI use, CI usage status and expressive language age were determined as variables affecting the total auditory perception score in the study (p<0,05). In line with the findings obtained in our study, it was concluded that ÇİAT is a valid and reliable tool that can be applied to children with hearing loss.
