Abstract
The history of humanity is the history of creating something new and showing what it has created. In the process of creation, the artist shapes and presents the world he comprehends and sees. The space formed as a result of the connection that people establish with life creates spaces to be protected, developed and feel safe. The paintings made in the caves, which are a protected area, are the oldest known paintings. The paintings made directly on the cave wall, that is, on the space itself, are the first examples of the relationship between painting and space. When these examples of paintings, the reasons for which they are made are not fully known, are evaluated from the framework of modern knowledge, it is seen that primitive man follows nature and his environment and interprets the environment he follows to the extent of his skill. It is known that primitive man did not make the paintings made on the cave wall in line with aesthetic taste, but for benefit and benefit. With the enlightenment of the 18th century, great breaks occur in art. Innovations such as color experiments and the invention of the camera provide great convenience to artists, as well as the search for artists to find new narrative languages. Abstraction, which is the preliminary stage of abstract art, is an attitude that is formed as a result of attempts to search for a new language. The thesis study is an examination of abstraction painting essays of the concept of night and space. In the art of painting, there are examples of night and space abstraction by taking into account certain periods and artists. The information obtained as a result of readings and source scans is used in the thesis.
