Mitolojik Hikayelerin Resimleme İle İlişkisi: Türk Mitolojik Hikayelerinin Resimlenmesi ve Taşınabilir Ürünler Üzerine Grafik Baskı Uygulamaları

Abstract

It is a well known fact that there are many art styles that are known by the names of nations in the world. Turkey has the competence to create its own language with its cultural diversity. However, today, it is seen that the works produced specifically for Turkish art are limited to traditional products and traditional artistic techniques and works that repeat each other. Apart from this, it is seen that one of the biggest obstacles to the existence of contemporary Turkish art is the lack of historical and cultural knowledge. The present study aimes to be a source for this information. In this framework, the content of the present study includes Turkish mythology and illustration.

Mythology are some phenomena that reflect people’s way of thinking, people's beliefs and traditions. Said differently, their whole lives. On the other hand, painting emerges as the imagination of these lifestyles. These two different formations intersect at the point where all life is reflected. For this reason, the present study was carried out in the context of mythology and illustration, which have an important role in the continuity of life.

In this context, in the first part, the characteristics of mythology and its role in life are explained, while in the second part, the development of illustration is discussed and information about printing methods is given. In the third part, mythological beliefs, especially Turkish mythology, are emphasized. The way these belief and thought systems shape the iconographic figures and their effect on the illustration in general are mentioned. In the last section, the application studies are included and the illustrations of the myths that have an important place in Turkish mythology have been realized.
