The aim of this study is to determine the economic qualities of literature as a cultural economic field on the basis of book fairs with its historical and current points.In this study, it is tried to analyze the current situation of Turkish literature, which has an economic function in literature within the framework of cultural economic approaches with literary sociology, literary criticism and literary philosophy-based approaches, which remains in the network of ‘stereotyped’ and outdated methods.It was determined how the author added the title of ‘producer / seller’ to his historical “artist” position, which is believed to have no economic expectations, through a process, and at this stage, the effects of the roles played by the fair structures that we tried to give with all stages of development were shown.The concept of ‘value’ at the base of philosophical schools of thought and the concept of ‘commodity’ at the base of the economic criticism of art were discussed in the circle of economic potentials created by the author, and the economic ‘value’ created by literature in a holistic and fragmented manner was compared with the artistic value.It has been tried to show the economy of knowledge (in the axis of information-media economy), which has initiated the circulation of both literature and all the authors in literature, and to separate their contributions both technologically and traditionally.It has been documented that literature is not a science dealing with a chronological / cumulative catalog of works and their analysis / interpretation, addressing only aesthetic concerns, and that it has an economic / economic function, quality and content.With the sample of book fairs, the significant contributions of literature to the country's economy within the scope of creative economy and cultural economy were mapped with statistical data.The status of Turkey publishing industry across the world publishing industry given and compared with different countries, Turkey publishing / the book industry existing problems (taxes, royalties, piracy, reading rates, et al.) have been discussed within the framework of cultural policies implemented in the proposals and Turkey the publishing establishment.As the most prominent phenomenon of the cultural economic efficiency of literature, the effects and variables of book fairs on areas such as education, tourism, literacy rates, urban culture and branding, audio (digital / unimpeded) book publishing, advertising, pirate book market have been determined, technological developments and book the possible future situations that the industry may take has been criticized.
