Abstract

The dissertation entitled "Reflection of Lace Element to Original Ceramic Surfaces" consists of four chapters.

In the first chapter entitled "Overview of Lace History", lace which is defined as a kind of lace, is discussed from the primitive ages to the present day with the historical development process. The definition of lace, which is used as a traditional object in Anatolia and the phenomena of the narrative object of Turkish women's expressison object, symbolized by examples are mentioned.

In the second chapter entitled "The Lace Element as a Source of Inspiration in Art", firstly, the link between art and life and every element in life can be subject to art. Afterwards, important social events that give direction to life as well as art in line with the historical process are included. The place of lace as an artistic expression object in different disciplines has been investigated through the works of various artists from architecture to textile design.

In the third part, entitled "Ceramic Art and Lace", the historical development of artistic pursuits are accepted as one of the oldest ceramic art after briefly mentioned, information from various artists with Turkey and have worked with inspired lace from around the world have been transferred, it is presented with examples.

In the fourth and last chapter titled "Personal Practices, the lace element, which is considered as a plastic element in the light of the information obtained from the previous chapters, researches and observations, is tried to be reflected in the original ceramic works by creating a personal style.
