Abstract
This study was planned to determine the reliability and validity of the Glittre Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Test in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). A total of 51 patients were included in the study, 25 MS patients in the Relapsing Remiting MS (RRMS) type who scored 4 and under 4 on the Extended Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and 26 healthy participants. For the criterion validity of the Glittre ADL Test, the correlation with the 6-minute walk test (6MWT) was examined. A negative and very good degree of correlation was detected between 6MWT with the Glittre ADL Test (r=-0.710, p<0.001). Patient and control groups were compared for known group validity. There was a difference between the two groups (p=0.001). Test-retest method was used to determine the reliability of Glittre ADL Test. Intra-observer reliability was evaluated by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The correlation (r=0.918, p<0.001) and ICC coefficients (r=0.941, p<0.001) of the Glittre ADL Tests results performed with 3-6 days interval were quite high. In the study group, there was a perfect correlation between Glittre ADL Test and Expanded Disability Status Scale which is used to evaluate the level of neurological impairment (r=0.836, p<0.001), Nottingham Extended Activities of Daily Living Scale which is used to evaluate daily life activities (r=-0.841, p<0.001) and Mini Balance Evulation Systems Test which is used to evaluate balance (r=-0.792, p<0.001), very good corelation between Glittre ADL Test and 5 Repetition Sit To Stand Test which is used to evaluate lower limb muscle strength (r=0.720, p<0.001), moderate correlation between the Glittre ADL Test and the physical health subtitle of Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life 54 scale which is used to evaluate quality of life (r=-0.591, p=0.002). There was no correlation between Glittre ADL Test and the mental health subtitle of Multiple Sclerosis Quality of Life 54 scale (r=-0.353, p=0.083) and Fatigue Severity Scale (r=0.348, p=0.096). At the end of our study, It was concluded that Glittre ADL Test is a reliable and valid measurement tool in the evaluation of functional exercise capacity in MS patients in the RRMS type who scored 4 and under 4 points on EDSS and can reflect the performance in daily life activities.
