Abstract
Surface modified titanium materials are frequently used in implant technology and draw a great attention in medical field due to their high activities and biocompatibilities. Concordantly in committed thesis study; anodizing process was carried out over surface rubbed and roughened titanium plates by varied voltages (10 ? 20 ? 30 V) in ethylene glycol (EG) + NH4F electrolyte solution. Thus, the surface area was expanded via constituted nano-sized tubular structure on the surface. Surface morphologic characterization of modified titanium plates was evaluated by scanning electrone microscope (SEM), chemical analysis was evaluated by energy dispersive x- ray spectroscopy (EDX) and wettability was evaluated by water contact measurement. Cell behavior of anodizied titanium plates was examined after treatment with osteoblast cells. Alginate biopolymer was used to coat the surface modified titanium plates via electrophoretic deposition method. Deposition time, deposition voltage and alginat concentration were varied to examine the effect of different parameters upon alginate coating. Different ratios of alginat/hydroxyapatite composites were deposited electrophoretically over the surface rubbed and anodizied titanium implants. In the study, adhesion and proliferation of osteoblast cells were investigated through the deposition carried out in different parameters. Scanning electrone microscope (SEM) was used to analyze the morphologic characterization of electrophoretically deposited alginate and alginate/hydroxyapatite over anodizied surfaces, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to examine the chemical analysis and wettability was analysed by water contact measurement. Cell interaction of surface modified titanium implants were also investigated.
