In the process of opening up to the outside world of preschool children, children's publications are one of the important sources for developing different perspectives and adopting books as friends. Children's books as illustrations, colors and artistic products of child publishing are the most important tools that can contribute to the future life of the child and support the cognitive, affective, social and multi-faceted development of preschool children. When children's development is taken into consideration, they need three-dimensional, moving, audible and multi-sensory resources that feed them with original visuals.
Illustrations used in children's books are the focus of attention for children. The pictures in it are of great importance for an illiterate child to make sense of the story on his or her own. Pop-ups and silent books for preschoolers are becoming very interesting thanks to pages that have been differentiated. In pop-up books, two-dimensional, static illustrations come to life on the page, enabling the reader to feel closer and more involved.
Silent books are a new type of book that feeds the power of imagination via wordless or without sentences, which wants to tell the story with visual elements, and enables the reader to create his or her own story instead of presenting the story directly. These books, which fascinate even the illiterate children, can be suitable sources for preschool children. Silent books contribute to the language development of preschool children. The child gains the ability to interpret an event he / she sees. It improves the child's vocabulary and visual memory. While the pop-up book type has been easily accessible in our country recently, examples in both pop-up and silent books are not common in our country. The aim of this study is to be a resource for the researches in the field of pop-up silent books, and to emphasize the importance and spread the usage silent books. This research has been examined in four chapters together with the application study.
In the first part, the picture books made according to the characteristics of preschool children and the points that should be considered in the preparation of these books were investigated.
In the second chapter, historical adventure examples and application of pop-up techniques for pre-school books were examined.
In the third chapter, the concept and importance of silent books for preschool children who are illiterate and the examples given were investigated.
In line with the researches carried out in the fourth chapter, pop-up and silent books were combined, and a book on sun, snow, rain and play was prepared.
