dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to investigate the effects of exercise in the elderly individuals on physical activity, kinesiophobia, fatigue and sleep quality. Two groups of people who are 65 year old and above; an exercise group (consisting of a total of 39 people, 27 of whom are in a rest home and 12 of whom live at home) doing exercise at least for the last 6 months and a control group (consisting of a total of 67 people, 24 of whom are in a rest home and 43 of whom live at home) not doing exercise, participated in the study. Personal information is recorded and physical activity levels, kinesiophobia, fatigue and sleep quality of the individuals assessed. Additionally, the daytime sleepiness, life quality, cognitivie functions, fall efficacy, mobility and balance of the individuals assessed. In the exercise group of the study, while physical activity levels (p<0,01) and sleep quality (p<0,05) increased, kinesiophobia and fatigue levels (p<0,01) decreased. Furthermore, It was found that in the exercise group, the number of falls and the fear of falling levels were less than the control group (p<0,01), life quality was higher (p<0,01) and functional status and balance was better (p<0,01). These results show the efficacy of exercise in geriatric health maintenance and the importance of exercise in maintaining independent function and quality of life safely. | tr_TR |

| tr_TR |
