Diz Osteoartriti Olan Hastalarda M. Quadriceps Femoris E Uygulanan Farklı Elektroterapi Akımlarının Kas Kuvveti, Yaşam Kalitesi ve Fonksiyonel Durum Üzerine Etkilerinin Karşılaştırılması
Özet
The aim of this study is comparing between the effects of Russian current and high voltage pulsed galvanic current therapy(HVPGS) for M. Quadriceps femoris on the muscle strenght, the functional status and the quality of life people who have knee osteoarthritis (OA).In this study 26 patients who has bilateral knee OA and in the age range of 40-65 were included. Before treatment individuals were evaluated in terms of range of motion, to determine the disability associated with osteoarthritis Western Ontario and McMaster Üniversitesi Osteoartrit (WOMAC) index, to assess functional mobility Time Up and Go (TUG), to quality of life Short- Form of 36 (SF-36) and isokinetic test.Assesment was performed after 15 treatment sessions (3 weeks).According to our study results, Russiancurrent group showed improvement at physical function, mental healthand painsubareas of quality of life(p<0.05). HVPGS group showed improvement at role emotionaland energysubareas of quality of life, stiffness subareas of WOMAC and range of knee flexion.Allgroups showed improvement at WOMAC pain, WOMAC functional, WOMAC total and TUG (p<0.05).After isokinetic evaluation in both groups in general there is an increase in peak torque values but this increase in Russian current group in left knee showed statistical significance.(p<0.05). According to these results, application of these both electrical stimulation with other physical therapy applications provided improvement in cases but can not be said of each other has been an advantage were considered. Also in this issue to do longer follow-up researches are also needed.
