Abstract
This study was carried out to aims to determine the effects of the Parent Training Program for Prevention of Children‟s Aggressive Behavior (SADEP), which was developed based on the needs of parents of children who shows aggressive behaviors, children behaviours, difficulties, strengths, family functions and harmony of marriage. In the study, focus group discussions were held with the mothers of children with aggressive behavior and then needs analysis were conducted. Thus SADEP was formed based emerging topics, literature data and experts‟ opinions. The program was implemented on 20 mothers who applied to Children Development Clinic of Ankara Training and Research Hospital who has children with aggressive behavior and who participated in the program voluntarily for a period of 13 weeks. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the program, a control group with equal number of mothers was established. In order to fully evaluate the results of the program, Family Assessment Device, Marital Adjusment Scale, Strenghts and Difficulties Questionarie, Preschool and Kindergarden Behavior Scale were applied to mothers from both groups before and after training. Same materials were also applied to only the experimental group as a monitoring study 2 months after the training. Mann Whitney U Test with Bonferroni Adjustment, Kruskal Wallis H test, Two-Factor Anova Test for Mixed Measures and Single Factor Anova Test for Correlated Samplings, Pearson‟s Correlation Coefficient and effect size analyses was used for analyzing data. As a result of the present study it has been determined that application of SADEP application, had significant effects on the internalized and externalized behaviors of children as well as their social skills, strengths and difficulties. The program showed statistically significant effects on the familial functions and it further positively affected the marriage harmony between the parents. Positive effects of SADEP continued during the monitoring period without any decrease. The effect size of the program was determined as a large effect size. It has been concluded that SADEP is a program that can be used as a method to intervene the children with aggressive behavior.
