Abstract

In this study, different meanings of the 'door' extant from history to the present are mentioned. divine dimensions of thee gates, which change shape according to civilizations but have the same constuction purposes, are examined. How this object has been made into a myth, in both material and spiritual terms, it has been studied as a means to meet peoples expectations from life. The huge gateways, the gates of god, the gate of hell or heaven, and the gates that are thought to have treasures hidden behind it are emphasized. These portals, which are fed by people's fears, effort to add meaning to the unknown and the need for a hand of god to help themselves, are given information about how these portals have changed to today. This change is explanied with the works of names fromcontemporary art. The charactesristic of the door shapes, that have changed with the political religion and all kinds of culural and artistic structure of the place where they live, however features that do not differ in anygeography have been handledand strengthened with different art works expressions.
