The Relationship Between Teacher Self-Efficacy And Competency Perceptions Of Chemistry Teacher Candidates
Alkan, Fatma; Erdem, Emine
hi this study, the relationship between teacher self efficacy and special field competency of chemistry teacher candidates will be examined. The study group of the study is composed of teacher candidates of chemistry. Chemistry Special Field Competency Scale developed by Gunes, Kayak and Yamak (2011) has been used M order to determine chemistry special field competency of teacher candidates. The data of self efficacy of teacher candidates have been collected by "Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale" developed by Tschannen-Moran and Hoy (2001) and of which study of validity and reliability of Turkish form is being done by Capa, Cakiroglu and Sankaya (2005). It has been found out that there is a positive and medium relationship between chemistry special field competency and teacher self efficacy beliefs of chemistry teacher candidates. The Relationship Between Pre-Service Teachers' Self-Esteem And Emotional Intelligence Levels
Onen, Aysem Seda; Ulusoy, Fatma Merve
This study was conducted to examine the relationship between chemistry preservice teachers' self-esteem and emotional intelligence levels. The sampling was consisted of 230 pre-service teachers studying at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education. In order to reveal their self-esteem Self-Esteem Inventory was administered to chemistry preservice teachers. This inventory was developed by Coopersmith (1967) and adapted to Turkish by Piskin (1997). The modified inventory was consisted of 25 items. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated for the SEI as 0.86. To determine preservice teachers' EQ levels, Emotional Intelligence Scale developed by Schutte, Malouff, Hall, Haggerty, Cooper, Golden & Dornheim (1998), modified by Austin et. al. (2004) and translated into Turkish by Gocet (2006), was applied. The 5-point Likert-type scale was consisted of 37 items with three factors. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated for the EIS as 0.81. The findings were used to evaluate the relationship between pre-service teachers' EQ levels and epistemological beliefs. (C) 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.

The Relationship Between Pre-Service Teachers' Eq Levels And Epistemological Beliefs
Onen, Aysem Seda; Ulusoy, Fatma Merve
This study focused on the analysis about the relationship between pre-service teachers' EQ levels and epistemological beliefs. The sampling consisted of 209 pre-service teachers studying at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education. The data were collected through "Epistemological Beliefs Scale" developed by Schommer (1990), which was adapted to Turkish by Deryakulu & Buyukozturk (2002) along with the "Emotional Intelligence Scale" developed by Schutte, Malouff, Hall, Haggerty, Cooper, Golden & Dornheim (1998), which was translated into Turkish by Gocet (2006). The findings were used to evaluate the relationship between pre-service teachers' EQ levels and epistemological beliefs. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of "EIS" was found to be .81. The reliability coefficient of "EBS" was determined to be.80. (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd.

The Relationship Between Metacognitive Awareness, Teacher Self-Efficacy And Chemistry Competency Perceptions
Alkan, Fatma; Erdem, Emine
In this study, the metacognitive awareness, teachers self-efficacy and chemistry competency perceptions of teacher candidates is determined and the relationship between metacognitive awareness, teacher self efficacy and chemistry competency perceptions of teacher candidates is examined. Research tools of this study are "Metacognitive Awareness Inventory", "Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale" and "Chemistry Field Competency Scale". Metacognitive awareness inventory is developed by Schraw and Dennison (1994). Teachers' sense of efficacy scale is developed by Tschannen-Moran and Hoy (2001). Chemistry field competency scale is developed by Gunes, Kavak and Yamak (2011). It has been found out from the study that there is a relationship between metacognitive awareness, chemistry competency perceptions and teacher self-efficacy beliefs of teacher candidates.
